TOPIC: Second Unit Ability
Second Unit Ability 11 years, 3 months ago #1018
Hi guys! Glad to find a handful of refugees that still play good old genuine games!
I have a newbie question about second (minor) unit ability. City Screen has an option to produce units with it. But unit icons give no information about second abilities. How can I find them out? Thanks in advance. |

Thanks for reply.
So if I understood correctly, when unit reaches the needed level it gets second ability? But will it have BOTH of them or you should choose WHICH it will have by checking "Build with 2nd ability" option? |

Vissavald,
you should choose WHICH it will have by checking "Build with 2nd ability" option? You choose which it starts with by selecting the 2nd ability. When the unit reaches the needed level it will get access to the other one. KGB |

Got it, thanks. Continuing "noob session" in this topic (if you don't mind) - what is fealty and how does it work?
(1 hour later) And one more stupid question A traveling merchant sold Tome of Necromancy to one of my heroes (Ogre). I play for Giants with Rune magic as Major and as Minor. How can I use this Tome? |

Vissavald,
First Question: Fealty is the ability to persuade neutral cities to join your cause for gold instead of conquering them. The advantage of doing this is that you don't lose any units conquering the city AND all the units that are defending the city become yours (very handy when facing those strong cities with 7-8 defenders or if you get some early gold from a ruin and have a lot of nearby cities of your race). Fealty only works on neutral cities of your race (ie if you are the Ogre race, it only works on Ogre cities). The neutral city will only swear fealty if you have a hero in your stack AND you have never attacked that city before AND you have the required gold (clicking on the city shows it's fealty cost). If you meet all 3 requirements then when you 'attack' the city you'll be given the option to have it swear fealty instead for that amount of gold. Second Question: You can't use the Tome since you can only use Rune magic. It was basically a waste of your money (unless you have an AI / Human ally who can use it). KGB |
