Hi everybody, I would like to know if anybody know how to play Warlords 3 Darklords Rising in Gameranger, because I didn't find anything about this in internet. If it's not possible with Gameranger I would need to know how to play online using another method please.

I've never heard of Gameranger before.
But when I went there and checked out the list of supported games it's listed there. So I would assume you *can* play it in Gameranger. KGB |

Gameranger and Garena are the most used video game servers finders now days.
I know Warlords III is supported, but when I execute it with Gameranger Warlords 3 shows me an error message after I press "Start game" button in the multiplayer lobby. This is the error message in my PC with Windows 7 Professional 32bit: "D:\Juegos\Red Orb Entertainment\Warlords III - Darklords Rising\orb was not found" with a title bar "Darklord" and an "Accept" button. This is the error message in my notebook with Windows 7 Professional 64bit: "D:\Juegos\Red Orb Entertainment\Warlords III - Darklords Rising\III was not found" with a title bar "Darklord" and an "Accept" button. It's an strange error message and I can't find info about it and it seems I'm not the only one because I saw someone with a similar error in the gameranger forum without answers. If you can, try to play Warlords with Gameranger please. It could be useful to find other unknown Warlords players maybe if the game would work correctly. Thank you, bye. |

Do you have the game installed on those machines?
From reading their website I do not get the impression that they provide the game. That would be illegal. Instead you must supply the game and they just provide a place to meet and arrange multi-player connections. For example on your PC it's looking for the game in D:\Juegos\Red Orb Entertainment\Warlords III - Darklords Rising\ There should be some setting where you can tell it what directory the game is located in. Yeah, I know that and Gameranger need to set the path before create a multiplayer room, if not you can't create a room and execute the game. Gameranger executes my game and the players connects correctly, but then it crashs in the multiplayer lobby.
So the path isn't the problem |

So the problem isn't really Gameranger then.
First, can you start and play DLR in single player mode (ie a few turns worth) on your machines? If you can't do that you aren't going to be able to play multi-player. Assuming you can play single player, multi-player at least on XP requires that Win 98 compatibility mode be set. This is probably true of Win 7 too. Once you have done the above you can try again in Gameranger. If that still fails, you should try directly connecting between your 2 machines using TCP/IP mode (I still play this way so I know it works). Until you get that working Gameranger isn't going to work. KGB |

I could play in Windows XP 32bit, Windows 7 32bit and Windows 64bit with single player mode and multiplayer mode, but without GameRanger.
Remember GameRanger modify the games process RAM data to automatise the parameters like IP and username and inject some code to detect if the game is executed or closed. So it's possible that GameRanger do a bad manipulation of the RAM memory and corrupt the game code in the RAM memory, but I'm not sure. That is why I think GameRanger has some problem with Warlords. PD: I tried Warlords III Reign of Heroes with GameRanger and it has the same problem! |
