TOPIC: Differences between ROH and DLR
Differences between ROH and DLR 10 years, 10 months ago #1244
I never really played the original Warlords 3 (REign of heroes). It is known that DLR is far superior than ROH.
But what is the difference exactly? In the gameplay, I mean. |

Less units/heroes, less abilities (no teleport, necromancy, lighting, acid, paralysis, trample, questing, slayers..), poison effect -1 str, no barracks, watching towers. So, less everything. Though the stuff is better balanced imho in the RoH. With exception to dragons - they are OP as archers dont have +3 str vs flyers. Stack speeds are slower.
And interface theme is more pleasant. I find DLR GUI skins quite disturbing personaly and it was also one of the reason why K-man closed Warlords Central iirc DLR was too 'satanic' for him. p.s.: elephants have 2 hp and provide +2 morale there |

Is that the same person as the Sil Tatener on the links page, which sends you to a site which quotes bible verse at you? Were some of the maps in Darklords Rising originally Heroes of Etheria maps, hence the lack of certain units, like multi-coloured dragons. |

I see then, there are other real reasons for shutting down and then there is a religious cloak thrown over the whole thing about Battlecry being Satanic (really it's just not exactly original).

I believe Molotov meant speed stacks are FASTER in ROH. They give 2x movement instead of 1.5X.
Also there is no map editor/campaign editor etc in ROH. All you get is 1 campaign, a few scenario maps and a random map generator. There is only 1 game option: conquer the map as opposed to all the DLR ones like Capture the Flag, Battle of the Titans etc. There are many annoying bugs in ROH that were fixed in DLR. For example you could get a quest to retrieve an item from a ruin. But if the ruin was a hidden ruin then it would not show up on the map (unless discover ruins was turned on) and the quest would be impossible to complete forcing you to disband your hero if you ever wanted another quest (because quests could not be abandoned either). Overall game balance in ROH was very bad. You could put Dragons in Merc 1/Ally 1 slots and do easy quests can get 2-3 Dragons! KGB |

Re: Differences between ROH and DLR 9 years ago #1437
Sorry for a little necromancy session...:)but I can't realize: does DLR contain ROH campaigns or not? An if it doesn't how ROH campaigns could be incorporated into DLR?
Thanks in advance. |

ROH had only one campaign (Bane Wars).
That campaign was included with DLR. KGB |
