TOPIC: Billy's back
Billy's back 12 years, 10 months ago #418
I'm retired and still playing DLR. Good to see old friends here. I'm just setting up my Alienware M11x laptop and will dig out the old DLR CDs and install the game and patches one more time. I'll be available soon for PBEM games.

Billy,
Great to see you after a long absence! Do you know/still keep in touch with some of the other old warlords that played Fortwar like Arioch, JosephMC, RAM etc? Looking forward to crossing swords with you once more. KGB |

No, I haven't played a PBEM game since 2006. I still have their email addresses, though and will give them a holler once I get DLR set up on the new laptop. I should get the external DVD drive any day so I can load the disks.
Should I load everything on the download page or just get the K4 heroes? I've been in Sequim, WA since 2008 living in a Cedar log cabin on a couple of acres of Cedar and Hemlock. |

Billy,
I'd grab K4 and Stormheim from the downloads. Wow, a log cabin. What brought that on, a need to get back to nature? KGB |

Several things: when I became disabled in 2005 I was free to move anywhere without regard to getting a job, after my wife's heart attack she was advised not to go out on hot days (most of the summer in St. Louis), I reflected on the nineteenth century heart patient treatment of living in a tranquil place, this cabin (which was built in 1999) had great location atop a 500 foot hill with views of the Olympic Mountains and Victoria BC in the gaps between trees and I'll never have to paint my house again. This is the first time we've lived in a rural setting and we love it. Knowing what we know now we would have looked even further out in the boonies. As it is we are on the edge of the bustling metropolis of Sequim.(population 5700) |

Billy,
Sounds like a wonderful view from your front yard. I'm jealous. I love the Pacific Northwest and from Portland to Vancouver has some amazing scenery and would be a great place to live if a job wasn't an issue and I could ski/fish/hunt/hike/bike to my hearts content. Not sure I'd want to get any further from civilization though. I enjoy some of those comforts now and then (and in you and your wife's case it sounds like having a nearby Doctor is one of those comforts) and a town of 5K is small enough that you never feel any kind of big city hustle/bustle. Another of those comforts is internet access. Something tells me part of the reason you've been offline is lack of access. They finally get high speed or did you splurge for Satellite internet? KGB |

Check us out on Google Earth:
1972 S 7th Avenue Sequim, WA 98382 I was distracted for a while. Starting in 2006 it took 2 years and $35,000 for (lawyers and doctors) to get my crooked insurance company to pay my disability claim. Then we lost our asses on selling the old house and my old company that owed me a lot of money went out of business, etc. etc. To cap it off I entered registration hell when I tried to sign up for Warlorders years ago and several hosts ago and I couldn't get on the forum. The current holdup is that my new laptop has a bad port and is on it's way back to Dell. We have two DSL lines but we never no how much throughput we're going to get. The street below us has cable but they won't run it to our house. I'll holler when I get my laptop back and am ready to play. I'd love to give COTE a try again. |

I have my M11x back but can't find my DLR CD. I just bought one on ebay but probably won't receive it until I get back from my 7/14 TO 8/2 Kansas City, St. Louis, Louisville trip. I'll check back then.

Hi Billy
I never knew you from way back and it sounds like you've been 'through the mill' but found a fantastic place to live after all your troubles. I've sent you a PM with details of how to use VirtualBox to run DLR. Just download and you'll never have another problem with DLR! Ian |

Ian,
Thanks for the info. I got back home last night after a 3 week trip and downloaded the virtual box software. My impulse is to create an XP box but DLR ran better on my old Vista machine than it did on my XP. What are you running on under virtual box? |
