Warlords 1-3 were released on GOG.com yesterday. Finally .

I tested Darklords Rising. I crashed several times, but after playing with settings in dxcfg.exe it stopped crashing.

Basically this release uses GOG.com DirectX wrapper (similar to DxWnd). It means that "-wincur" is no longer needed (like with DxWnd).
And it has soundtrack! It plays natively without the original CD.

It's been running smoothly on win7 so far.

Bought it after long wavering (mainly concerning if I really need another W3DLR distributive at all). Premonitions were true, I had no need in another W3DLR distributive

GOG version doesn't work on my old-gaming XP desktop (yes, I know, it shouldn't because GOG doesn't support XP anymore blah-blah) but I still wonder what they managed to do with the game from 1998 (that runs perfectly on XP) that it now doesn't start at all. I think it's because of stupid 'GOG wrapper'(tm) they shoveled into distributive to make it work on Win10.

GOG releases of old games (already rare nowadays)become worse and worse and worse every time. Some of them didn't even run on Win7 when I tested them. What will follow when January 2020 came?

That's why I have kept the old GOG Install files when the XP was supported for my favorite games, because as years go by, GOG updates them for the new windows version and sometimes you get problems even When you try to make them work in the newer Windows, eg WIN 10.
Even W III DLR, doesn't play exactly on WIN 10 like it does on my WIN XP laptop using the original CD. One thing I noticed, you don't see some of the special effects like for a example when the elf archers shoot their arrows on the enemy the actuall arrows hitting the enemy effect in the battle screen does not appear on the GOG WIN 10 version.
